NTA, ASTA Oppose New York Senate Bill 2110
Feb. 14, 2007 – NTA is joining ASTA in opposing New York Senate Bill 2110, which would subject travel intermediary service fees to a new hotel occupancy tax.

When a travel company rents New York hotel rooms online or by telephone for their clients, the tax applies to the price of the room, including agent/operator mark-up or applicable service fees paid by consumers.

A tentative hearing on the legislation will be held in Albany on Feb. 28.

Please contact your state senator and tell them to oppose SB 2110. Tell them that service fees are not part of the hotel price and should not be subject to this new tax and are distinct and separate from hotel occupancy fees.
