NTA Asks for Reactions Following Latest Travel Warning
August 4, 2005 – The U.S. State Department has issued a public announcement to Americans to maintain "a high level of vigilance" while traveling to the United Kingdom and Gibraltar, including England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. This action comes after the London bombings last month and rumor of more possible attacks.

As a precaution, the department is encouraging Americans to register through their travel registration Web site, http://travelregistration.state.gov/, or at the U.S. Embassy in London.

NTA continues to monitor this worldwide situation and we want to help you in your communications with your customers. Terrorism and random violence can happen anywhere. Traveling must remain one of the basic freedoms of life.

NTA has already heard from several of its tour operator members and hopes to continue to share accurate information and reports from you. Albatross Travel Group reports that they have not had any cancellations following the London attacks and that their bookings 2006-7 are looking good.

We ask for your assistance so that we may accurately convey the current state of travel to Europe to the media and the traveling public. Please send your comments and observations, such as cancellations or concerns you may receive, following this latest warning. You may send your comments to NTA’s public relations specialist at sara.morton@ntastaff.com.
