National Tourism Week is Here
May 14, 2007 – NTA joins its many U.S. members in celebrating National Tourism Week this May 12-20. A series of activities have been wrapped around this year’s theme, "Tourism: America’s Front Door," giving cities, states and travel-related businesses nationwide the opportunity to collectively champion the power of travel.

Since the initiative was introduced in 1984, many NTA-member companies have participated in this effort by organizing or taking part in celebrations in their local communities. The Kansas City CVA, which will host the 2007 NTA Annual Convention, is a great example of a NTA member planning events around National Tourism Week. This year, as part of its celebrations, the CVA will present its first ever Visitors Choice Awards. The program will recognize winners in 19 different categories, ranging from Favorite Festival or Special Event to Favorite Jazz Venue.

National Tourism Week’s organizer, the Travel Industry Association, has partnered with AOL® Travel to provide the public a chance to share their travel pictures, videos and experiences. Live from May 1-20, the Web page is designed to engage users with features on American destinations and highlight travel fun facts and consumer message boards.

If you’re doing something to celebrate National Tourism Week in your community, let NTA know! Contact NTA Public Relations Manager Sara Morton at sara.morton@NTA.travel.
