NTA President Pam Inman, CTP, CAE, IOM, issued the following statement regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed plan for $1.5 trillion to help rebuild America’s decaying infrastructure. The president unveiled his intentions during the Jan. 30 State of the Union speech.
“NTA is excited about the possibility of an infrastructure package, and we look forward to working with the administration and Congress on investments that will help facilitate a more positive travel experience throughout the United States.”
Modernizing the nation’s aging transportation system, which includes roads, bridges, rail lines and airports, remains a legislative priority for the Lexington, Kentucky-based organization.
“An investment in infrastructure directly improves safety and efficiency in moving travelers,” Inman said. “Our members look forward to advocating for improvements to our nation’s transportation system at Destination Capitol Hill in March.”
Destination Capitol Hill brings travel leaders from across the country to Washington, D.C., to educate policymakers about travel as an economic driver. NTA is an annual sponsor of the event, which takes place March 21–22.
