Hawaiian Cruise Docked After 300 Become Ill
The Sun Princess Hawaiian cruise that sickened nearly 300 passengers and crew members this weekend was cut short Tuesday to allow the 2,000 travelers to take flights home.
According to CNN.com, the cruise from Los Angeles to four Hawaiian islands was docked and diverted ten days into the trip in Honolulu. Approximately 100 passengers, half of whom were sick, stayed on board the ship as it left Tuesday for Los Angeles. Princess Cruises paid for passengers’ flights home and offered partial refunds.
The Norwalk-like virus, which affected 1,500 travelers on several cruise ships recently, can cause stomach pain and vomiting for up to 48 hours.
