Google Lets Travelers Text for Flight Status

March 28, 2007 –This week, Google announced Google SMS, a tool allowing travelers to check their flight status using their cell phones.

Google SMS is available for flights departing or arriving in the United States, using information provided by flightstats.com. Travelers simply text their flight number to 466453 (GOOGLE), and the status information will be sent back to the mobile phone. Travelers also can text a specific airline name, and Google will send back the main phone number to call.

Additionally, travelers may still go to Google on the Web and enter an airline name and flight number in the search box to check the status via links to Travelocity, Expedia or Fboweb.com.
