Good News For Tourism in Western Canada
March 17, 2004 – The Tourism Industry Association of Canada announced Wednesday that the federal government and the four Western provinces have promised $10 million to help the region’s tourism industry. The money will be used to promote the region in a variety of advertising and public relations promotions.
The Western Economic Diversification will provide half to the allocation, while the other half will come from each provincial government. British Columbia will get $4 million from the program, Alberta will get $2.8 million, and Saskatchewan and Manitoba will get $1.6 million each. Although each province conducts its own tourism marketing separately, a joint effort that would focus on the region as a whole is being discussed.
