Get Involved with NTA’s Government Relations Efforts
Jan. 29, 2008 –With primaries and caucuses coming up in 24 states next week on Super Tuesday (Feb. 5), NTA is calling on you to help bring the importance of travel-related issues to the presidential candidates. Member involvement is a vital part of this NTA initiative, and you can help keep tourism and travel in the public dialogue throughout the campaign by doing three things:

  • If there is an upcoming debate, caucus or primary in your area, show up and ask questions. Or, you can submit questions online for the Republican debate tomorrow (Jan. 30) and the Democratic debate Thursday (Jan. 31).
  • Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper or post a message on a blog. (NTA has prepared sample letters on three different topics – the economy, America’s image and transportation – that you can adapt and send.)
  • Volunteer to be a part of NTA’s rapidly growing grassroots network.

For more information on getting involved with these efforts, click here or contact NTA Director of Industry and Government Relations Matt Grayson or NTA Public Affairs Advocate Steve Richer. That page also includes information on a survey NTA conducted with industry partners that polled registered voters in South Carolina and Florida about the importance of tourism and travel issues.
