FTA Product Development Trip: Sign up before the July 27 deadline

July 17, 2018

Don’t miss the first-ever FTA Product Development trip to England and Massachusetts! This trip will provide a preview of the 2020 Commemoration of the Pilgrims’ journey on the Mayflower.

The trip consists of two parts: a to England (Sept. 3-9) and a trip to Massachusetts (Sept.10-12). You can participate in one or both! The trip will follow the Pilgrims’ journey through England and then to their new home in Massachusetts.

In England, you’ll visit many of the 11 core Mayflower destinations, including the Pilgrim Fathers Memorial in Southampton, the Mayflower steps in Plymouth, the “Faithful City” of Worcester, and the Pilgrim Roots villages of Scrooby and Babworth. You’ll also visit important Pilgrim sites in Boston and Gainsborough – Linconshire, including Boston Guildhall (where the Pilgrims were held and tried) and St. Botolph’s Church.

Of special interest to U.S. travelers will be the visit to Gloucester. John Stafford Smith, author of the Star Spangled Banner, was born here in 1750 and christened in Gloucester Cathedral. You will visit the cathedral, have lunch there and then take a guided tour of the city.

The U.S. segment of the trip includes a visit at the house of John Alden, a cooper on the Mayflower, and the grave of Miles Standish, a military officer who helped the Pilgrims organize their colony. Visit the Pilgrim Hall Museum with original artifacts of the Pilgrims, and Plimoth Plantation, a living history museum with a re-creation of a 17th-century village and a Wampanoag home site maintained by present-day tribal people. The Wampanoag guides will show where and how they lived and explain what they thought about the English people who settled on their land. You’ll visit Cape Cod, where the Pilgrims first landed, and see Plymouth Rock where they first stepped onto land after their long journey. We’ll sail the waters of Plymouth Harbor and then learn from both sides the importance of fellowship while we share a tribal meal together.

Experience for yourself the important story of the Pilgrims and their journey, their relationship with the Wampanoag people in the New World, and how these two peoples impacted the founding of our nation.
