Cruise Ship Passengers Sickened with Norwalk-Type Virus
More than 300 people aboard a Princess Cruises ship became sick with what appears to be a Norwalk-type virus, causing the ship to dock a day early in New York.
According to CNN.com, by the time the Regal Princess docked early today, only two passengers remained sick. The first symptoms of the norovirus surfaced on the third day of the 15-day Atlantic voyage, and Princess Cruises flew aboard two senior health officers and an extra disinfection team to help contain it.
Preliminary results of an investigation of the outbreak indicate than an infected person probably brought the virus onboard in Copenhagen, said Centers for Disease Control and Prevention company spokeswoman Julie Benson.
