China to Allow More People to Travel Abroad
The Chinese government is easing restrictions on travel, allowing most of its citizens to apply for passports and the chance to visit the rest of the world.

According to CNN.com, the move is a dramatic change from the 1980s, when passports were limited to the few who went on official trips and those who were well connected.

The government said it is shortening its passport application procedures. The new procedures are being implemented in 34 large- and medium-sized cities, mostly in the economically developed areas on China’s eastern seaboard. The government plans to have 100 cities involved by the end of the year.
