Bestselling Author Mitch Albom Feature Speaker at NTA Annual Convention
November 8, 2005 – Nationally acclaimed columnist and author Mitch Albom was the feature speaker at the Tuesday Luncheon during the 2005 National Tour Association Annual Convention. Albom addressed approximately 2,500 tourism professionals from around the globe.

"Every one of you has the ability to touch the world through one person and the memory will live on for many, many years," Albom said. "As you are going about your business of planning travels and tours for other people, remember that, at the heart of what your doing, is the memories that you’re making, not of buidlings or edifices, but of experiences for other people."

Immediately following the luncheon, Albom signed copies of his first novel "The Five People You Meet in Heaven", which was published in 2003 and has been on the New York Times bestseller list for nearly two years.

The Detroit native and author of "Tuesdays with Morrie", the best-selling memoir of all time with nearly 20 million copies sold worldwide, lives just outside Detroit in Franklin, Mich., where he is also a well-known radio and television personality. Albom’s three radio shows include "The Mitch Albom Show," "The Mitch Albom Show On The Weekend" and "The Monday Sports Albom," originated on WJR-AM in Detroit and are broadcast in 38 states and most of Canada. Albom also can be seen as a panelist on ESPN’s "Sports Reporters," which airs on Sunday mornings to a nationwide audience.

"We are very honored to have one of Detroit’s elite speak at our Annual Convention," NTA Chairman and CEO, Ann Thomas said. "Mitch is a very warm and engaging person, and I know that NTA delegates gained a lot from his presentation."
