Americans Will Take 234.4 Million Trips This Spring
A new study released by the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) forecasts Americans will take 234.4 million trips of 50 or more miles during the months of March, April and May this year.
While leisure travel has grown steadily in the past two years, the findings indicate a decrease in the number of leisure trips by 1.6 percent over spring of 2002. American travelers still plan to depart on 171.2 million vacations this spring.
The largest decline found in the survey came in the business travel sector, with Americans planning to take only 52.6 million business trips this spring, down 2.5 percent from last year.
