Airports Launch New Level of Security Today
Airline travelers can expect longer delays airports starting today as the Transportation Security Administration begins screening all checked bags for explosives.
According to TWCrossroads, more than 90 percent of checked bags will be screened electronically. The remainder will be checked by hand or with bomb-sniffing dogs.
TSA’s goal is to move to 100 percent electronic screening for explosives by the end of March. Passengers can help the new system run smoothly by leaving bags unlocked and avoiding over-packing.
