A Royal Welcome For NTA Attendees

April 15, 2010: MONTAGE attendees arrived in Seville yesterday to begin the 4-day networking and educational event. A challenging afternoon scavenger hunt took participants throughout the city and had them interacting with locals and costumed characters to learn about Seville’s history and traditions. In the evening, representatives of the Andalusian and Seville tourism boards formally welcomed attendees at the Real Alcázar the Royal Palace of Alcázar. The palace, the Seville residence of the Spanish Crown, is considered to be the most ancient royal house in continuous use in the world. It was the home of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand and was where Christopher Columbus met Queen Isabella after his second voyage to the New World.
"Seville is one of the most important year-round destinations in Europe," said Beatriz Arilla, general manager of Turismo de Sevilla. "We are facing new challenges in the tourism industry. We are being forced to make up more from less, to innovate and find new markets, to raise our standards, to search for new business opportunities. . . . I’m sure that the working sessions of this NTA conference will continue to improve our skills and our knowledge, and we hope to fulfill your expectations of our city."
Today, attendees participated in a buyer/seller business development session. Professional development opportunities in the afternoon include seminars on green travel and working with travel agents as well as crackerbarrels for buyers, sellers and destinations.
